Our client is a government body looking for an experienced data manager to deliver and support a range of ICT programs/projects.

Position Overview:

The Data Manager will work to the Director, Data & Digital Management, and will guide the creation and
implementation of effective data management strategy and practice. They will work closely with project
teams to optimise the management and use of data within agency systems to support agency decision
making processes and influence stakeholders to adopt better data management practice.

• Data Planning and Operations: Oversee data planning and operations, including gathering requirements and developing data management strategies.
• Data Security/Cybersecurity: Ensure data security and cybersecurity measures are in place and adhered to, safeguarding sensitive information.
• Data Catalogue and Business Glossary: Develop and maintain a data catalogue and enterprise business glossary to enhance data accessibility and understanding.
• Data Governance Framework: Design and implement data governance frameworks and instruments, ensuring they are effective within a digital environment.

Essential Criteria:

1. Experience in Data Management/Governance: Demonstrated experience in designing and leading the implementation of data management and governance frameworks, policies, procedures, or practices within a program or project environment.
2. Communication Skills: Clear, concise, and articulate oral and written communication skills, with the ability to influence, persuade, and negotiate effectively.
3. Track Record of Delivering Results: Proven ability to work effectively under tight timeframes, delivering outcomes on time, preferably within Australian Government organizations.
4. Managing Concurrent Deliverables: Proven ability to manage multiple deliverables simultaneously, using initiative and responding flexibly to change and uncertainty.
5. Knowledge of DMBoK: Good working knowledge of and experience applying the Data Management Book of Knowledge (DMBoK) to develop data management and governance practices in a digital setting.

Desirable Criteria:

1. Expertise in Data Management Areas: Demonstrated expertise in data planning and operations, data security/cybersecurity, data catalogue and enterprise business glossary development, and data governance framework development in a digital environment.
2. Experience with Government Agencies: Experience working with Australian Government agencies and/or knowledge of AER data operations or digital environments.
3. Experience with Azure/Office 365: Familiarity with Azure/Office 365 environments and tools.

Contract Role 

This is a 12 month contract role with an opportunity for an extension.
