Objective: Upgrade mission systems to handle increased data volumes, processing overheads, and interconnectivity, including the implementation of the Strategic Intelligence Operational Network (SION) – a contemporary private cloud environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Architecture Design Review:
Conduct a design review session for the Splunk architecture.
Evaluate existing data onboarding procedures and index usage within the Splunk environment.
Performance Audits:
Audit indexing performance and review associated settings.
Assess search performance and usage within the Splunk environment and review related settings.
Enhancements & Documentation:
Complete on-demand enhancements as per AGO requirements.
Finalize project status tasks.
Document “as-built” configurations for Splunk elements and transition capabilities to the sustainment team.
Integration & Verification:
Work with senior technical SMEs to ensure integration with other SION system functions, including networking, HCI/Virtual (VMware VCF), security governance, and support components.
Provide input into validation and verification documents, including user stories, test scripts, and test configurations.
System Information:
Environment: Contemporary private cloud built on HPE hardware with VMware Virtual Cloud Foundation (VCF) core software.
Security & Operations: Managed by key software components including Microsoft, RedHat, ForeScout, McAfee, Sailpoint, and Commvault.
Capabilities: High-performance computing environment supporting military operations with advanced security and data processing capabilities.
Role Requirements:
Estimated Hours: 500 hours (subject to increase via Contract Change Proposal).
Security Clearance: Ability to work in a high-security environment with discretion.
Location: Canberra (primarily remote work via Vendor systems or Defence DREAMS remote access; on-site visits as required).
Travel: Occasional travel to Canberra (Russell Offices – Defence).
Skills & Experience Required:
Proven experience with Splunk architecture and administration.
Strong background in performance auditing, data onboarding, and index management within Splunk.
Ability to work effectively with senior technical SMEs and integrate with complex IT environments.
