Our client is a statutory agency within the Defence portfolio. They are dedicated to defending Australia against global threats and advancing national interests through foreign signals intelligence, cyber security, and offensive cyber operations as directed by the Australian Government.

Role Overview:

The Security Architect will play a crucial role in developing secure web capabilities designed to enhance security and protect against cybercrime. This position involves responsibilities related to cloud-native infrastructure and the implementation of security controls.

Security Architect Duties and Responsibilities

  • Determine Security Requirements:
  • Evaluate business strategies to determine security needs.
  • Lead threat risk assessment activities.
  • Research and apply information security standards.
  • Conduct system security and vulnerability analyses and risk assessments.
  • Architect Solutions:
  • Design and architect solutions that align with mitigation strategies.
  • Ensure solutions meet the Australian Government Protective Security Policy Framework (PSPF) and related information security standards.
  • Develop and Manage Security Plans:
  • Create, deliver, and update System Accreditation Plans (SAP) and Security Risk Management Plans (SRMP).
  • Ensure capability solution architecture/designs adequately address and mitigate identified threats.
  • Review and Enhance Security Measures:
  • Analyze existing system security measures.
  • Recommend and implement enhancements to improve security posture.
  • Cyber Security Capability:
  • Analyze, design, develop, deliver, and maintain the security perspective of Cyber Security Capability.
  • Liaison and Accreditation:
  • Liaise with certification and accreditation authorities, business stakeholders, and solution architects.
  • Drive solutions and designs toward successful accreditation outcomes.
  • Security Artefacts and Advising:
  • Review internal and externally developed security engineering artefacts to ensure all security requirements are addressed.
  • Advise the Program Design Authority on system security threats, risks, and mitigations.

Security Architect Essential Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience: Minimum of 5 years’ experience as a Security Architect with a focus on Cloud Infrastructure.
  • Leadership: Proven leadership experience in managing security artefacts and driving improvements in security measures.
  • Security Measures and Enhancements: Ability to review existing system security measures and recommend and implement enhancements.
  • Cyber Security Capability Management: Experience in analyzing, designing, developing, delivering, and maintaining security aspects of Cyber Security Capability.
  • Certification and Liaison: Experience liaising with certification and accreditation authorities, business stakeholders, and solution architects to achieve accreditation outcomes.
  • Security Artefacts Review: Skill in reviewing and ensuring all security requirements are addressed in security engineering artefacts.
  • Advisory Skills: Ability to advise on system security threats, risks, and mitigation strategies.
