About the Role

The Chief Information Officer Division (CIOD) is looking for experienced and motivated Enterprise Architect to lead various ICT projects. Our team provides essential services and operations that support the department and Australian businesses. As an early adopter of cloud technologies, we have successfully implemented numerous key applications in the cloud, particularly using Microsoft Azure and O365. We are actively working on decommissioning legacy systems and migrating to cloud solutions.

Enterprise Architect Key Responsibilities

As an Enterprise Architect, you will:

  • Develop a cohesive architecture that aligns with departmental and whole-of-government strategies.
  • Collaborate with program solution architects to clarify requirements and vision.
  • Engage with architectural and delivery stakeholders across the department.
  • Contribute to the ICT Strategy and Enterprise Architecture framework.

Enterprise Architect Qualifications

  • Experience: At least 5 years in enterprise architecture, with a proven ability to lead and collaborate with solution, data, infrastructure, and application architects in designing and documenting ICT solutions that align with future-state architecture.
  • Needs Identification: Demonstrated capability in identifying and scoping opportunities for common platforms and services across the enterprise. This includes understanding current landscapes and effectively communicating future-state architectures to stakeholders, ensuring proper documentation and stakeholder engagement.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent communication, judgment, research, and analytical skills. Strong stakeholder engagement, problem-solving abilities, planning, and time management are essential for achieving acceptance of future-state architecture and related decisions.
  • Policy Knowledge: Familiarity with whole-of-government policies such as the Digital Transformation Agency’s Digital Service Standard and the Australian Signals Directorate Information Security Manual (ISM).
  • Digital Transformation Experience: Proven experience in digital transformation, including enterprise architecture tools and methodologies, cost modeling, and advising on cost management and authentication frameworks. Ability to architect and integrate whole-of-government capabilities within enterprise solutions.
  • Cloud Expertise: Knowledge of cloud architecture and approaches, particularly with Microsoft cloud offerings.
